Supplier Info: About two hundred people are involved in the manufacturing process at this factory in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Half are based at the factory, sub-contractors number about fifty and the remainder are cottage workers. The cottage workers usually live in remote and inhospitable areas, so employment, where they can remain at home, earn a living and take care of their families is very welcome. Apart from statutory wages, all employees receive Provident Funding, a retirement scheme. Contributions are compulsory, but access to the funds is available if a medical emergency arises. This supplier harvests rainwater and recycles their waste and work is afoot improving factory conditions. They say, "We are proud that we produce quality products and are promoting ethnic Indian art and craft techniques globally.”
