This lovely hand-forged hook is perfect in a kitchen for utensils or a hallway for keys. Each hook can be removed or slid along so you can mix and match with other utensils or paraphernalia. The hooks follow a gorgeous line of symmetry and each one has been individually hammered into a simple, chunky shape. They are attached to the wall via long, slim plate that is bent at each end to bring the hooks out from the wall. This producer employs about thirty artisans who work in teams and mostly in their own homes and the majority of the work is done by particular communities. Most of the work is very labour intensive – Lohars as they are known in India, do heavy blacksmithing and forge hot metal, and muslim village folk tend to work sheet metal. Materials used can include iron and wood and these materials are totally recyclable. Some raw materials originate from the recycling process in the form of salvaged metal. Any materials leftover are properly recycled or disposed of. The company harvests water from the factory roof and stores it in a tank for watering the garden and the trees they have planted there. They provide authentic handmade items that reflect the craftsmanship and individuality of each of the artisans who create them, so why not choose an original piece of artwork to hang on your wall.
