This elaborate handmade bracelet is made up of many parts. The hand-dyed cotton, the cast metal that has been coloured gold, vintage beads and the playful contrasting coloured pompoms wrapped with a delicate gold string. It is adjustable so one size fits all, with a sliding gold-coloured textured bead. The simple finished look belies the complicated and time-consuming manufacture. Eighty people are involved at the factory site in Delhi, India where this fabulous bracelet is made. Twenty are sub-contractors, and between fifty and sixty people are employed at the premises. Up to eight women work at home. The employers provide free meals to their workers, and overtime is available, as well as ESI and Provident Funding on top of statutory wages. When it's Diwali the employer distributes clothes and sweets and they also celebrate other festive occasions. The supplier says "We plant trees to help provide a healthier environment for our employees and we are proud that we try to involve as many women artisans in our group to empower them. We are constantly looking for women who are unable to go out and search for work due to social pressure. We provide them with a kind of work, which they can easily do and still care for family and children." Available in three colour ways, they look fab on their own or worn all together, especially with the different coloured pompoms swinging away on your wrist.
