Things that have aged make a room look homely and lived-in and a space feel collected instead of decorated. This gypsy-inspired cotton printed rug is perfect for achieving such a look as it is a lovely example of when old meets new. Deliberately distressed, it is alive with colour, pattern, interest and a story. This lovely rug mixes elements of texture and character that can help to build a room in a way that feels natural and effortless.
Supplier Info: The large textile manufacturer who supplies it employs four hundred men and women, of which over half are cottage workers. Employees receive insurance in order to get free medical treatment for all the family, provident funding for pensions and interest free loans. The company supports several charities including SOS Children Village India, Save the Children and Oxfam. Workers use traditional techniques to make their products that can include hand-weaving, hand-embroidery, cutwork, tie-dying and hand-block and screen printing. Materials vary, but things such as wool, jute, cotton, seagrass and recycled materials such as cotton, denim, saris and even sweet wrappers are used. Nothing is wasted. They have an excellent team of young people who are energetic and committed to the company and their forward-thinking vision.
