RE-USED, UPCYCLED AND RECYCLED
RE-USED / SECOND LIFE
So at the top spot of the podium, we have Re-Used, this is where we have bought a product which has been used and loved in the same state we are selling it, it has not gone through any re-manufacturing to become a re-sold product, it means the piece is vintage, second-hand, old.. there are many way to describe them. It also means that there is ONLY one of the product, so with its top spot on the sustainability ladder, and its scarcity and uniqueness, nothing beats, RE-USED.
Next up, Upcycled, this means that a product is made from old materials which have not gone through a re-manufacturing process, however the overall product has. More often than not, it will also contain some virgin raw materials (even if it's just the thread that holds it together)
And finally Recycled, this is where a product is made from a post consumer waste product, and has been re-manufactured into something else, so for example, a used plastic bottle, being turned in a rug.
