The cosmetics industry is huge, money is being spent so why skimp on the bag that keeps it all safe? This is a make-up bag that deserves to be shown off, so much so that it could double as a clutch bag. The main body is woven in navy and white chevron stripes, with double ‘tassel-age' on the sides, whilst the magnum opus is on the top. This beautifully embroidered swirly and multi-coloured section is exquisite down to the tiniest detail. Even the stitching around the off-white zip is multi-coloured and the zipper boasts an oversized two-tone tassel. Inside is a cotton lining in a black and white pretty floral print. It is a perfect illustration of the art of recycling and the soft primary palette combined with the stark white and navy brings everything together in a gorgeously and flagrantly ‘throw everything at it’ style.
Supplier Info: It is handmade by workers from a supplier with a large factory employing more than one hundred and fifty people directly, as well as providing employment opportunities for more than a thousand families through the cottage industry when their supply demands it. Employees receive a Provident Pension Fund, employee insurance and paid maternity leave. The company has adopted four children and provides for their education and up-bringing. Their main mission is to preserve centuries’ old tradition of hand-embroidery techniques, many of which derive from the pragmatic art of recycling. For example, women prolonged the use of their clothing and saris by beautifying them or simply stitching threadbare layers together to form new and usable drapery.
